The Great Flip Flop: Coming Home Together
They say it takes a village. In our case, it took an entire parish family, a whole lot of determination, and 180 chairs!
Back in June, we "flipped" out of our church to make way for the next phase of construction. What followed were months of progress, patience, and anticipation as our beloved church home underwent its transformation.
And now, after all that time, we've officially "flopped" back in!
But returning to our Nave was no small undertaking. Over the course of several weeks, countless volunteers gave their time, energy, and talents to make our homecoming possible. There were 180 chairs to move — and yes, all 180 needed to be cleaned! Our entire worship space had to be carefully moved back into the Nave, the altar prepared, the choir space arranged, and countless details attended to before we could gather once again for the Divine Liturgy.
And that was only part of it!
Our parish offices also made their way back into the building, allowing us to finally say goodbye to the temporary office trailer and prepare the parking lot for its next phase of work.
Some volunteered for a few hours, others several days. Some carried furniture, some cleaned, some organized, and others quietly took care of the hundred little things that needed doing. Every contribution mattered!
What made this effort so beautiful wasn't simply how much work was accomplished, but how we accomplished it together.
There's something deeply fitting about a church community coming together to prepare its own sacred space. Our church is so much more than walls, floors, and a beautiful Nave. It is a living community of faith, built up through love, service, and the willingness to offer whatever gifts we have.
To every person who lifted, carried, scrubbed, organized, coordinated, prepared, or simply showed up ready to help: thank you.
You helped bring our parish family home. And what a beautiful homecoming it has been!
The Great Flop is officially complete, and we couldn't have done it without you. Glory to God for all things!
